🥾📟📓 Unreview: Heartbreak Heist

What is it?
A one-page game - and I mean one page, single-sided about a lesbian romance. You have a currency, ‘love actions’ represented by the petals of a flower you draw. You want an uneven number at the end because she loves you, she loves you not.
Coin tosses decide whether you need to spend a love action or gain one.
There is a story that you need to write in your journal. All of it.
Is it playable out of the box?
Not for me. It’s more a set of journal prompts that you can weave a story from with occasional coin tosses to add a very small game element.
Amendments:
Since you’re instructed to ’set up 5-10 risky Situations’ this is not so much ‘amendments’ as part of the game. Given that this is a slightly unusual setup/setting, you probably won't find random tables for this.
Tools
2 coins to toss, some paper to draw a daisy on.
Price:
$5
Verdict
🥾 I’m done with this style of ‘game’. They’re certainly something, and I’m sure some people have fun with them, but for me it’s not enough story seeds to feel intrigued, and not enough mechanics to feel I’m playing a game, and too much straightjacket to feel I’m creative.
📟 Not a game; a trace of game elements
📓 A journal is involved
Calling it what it is: this is a guided journalling exercise with minimal prompts and a small gamified mechanic that can easily be nudged into the place you want it to be.
